Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity. We are looking for both experience and passion about data management and data quality. There will be some administration responsibilities, but heavier on data development.

Education and experience

Minimum three years of progressive experience designing, developing, and documenting data architectures, metadata systems, data dictionaries, databases and applications.

Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field; equivalent combinations of work experience and education will be considered in lieu of bachelor’s degree.

Technical background must include considerable experience in architecting and modeling a complex high-volume environment with deep knowledge of OLTP, Data Warehouse, OLAP, and ETL systems.

Significant experience in a Microsoft environment specifically SQL 2000, SQL 2005 and SQL 2008.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

Advocate and develop master data management strategies that maximize progress towards organizational objectives by providing actionable, integrated data and improves productivity through disciplined management of data.

Define, document and maintain the data architecture through working with data owners and through logical modeling of existing data systems and uses.

Develop and support data and database standards and conventions.

Facilitate and document business metadata with respect to appropriate data and its usage.

Ensure all data architecture and model components are properly integrated and implemented.

Play a key role in designing the transactional, data warehousing and reporting infrastructure for various products and systems
Manage database requests and code deployment to all environments
Maintain integrity and recoverability of databases
Ensure SQL service availability is maintained
Ensure databases are operating efficiently and at maximum performance

Monitor and report on service performance, errors, and alarms.

Develop, model and maintain SSIS packages (complex ETL)
Administer, monitor, and support.

Transaction Replication and Log Shipping.

Provide support and verify quality through all stages of implementation.

Work closely with the System Administrators, and Software Developers to coordinate product and system releases, data structure evolution, capacity planning and forecasting.

Minimum Requirements

  • Excellent ability to communicate and work with technical and non-technical people alike.
  • Extensive capability in architecting, modeling, designing, and documenting data architectures, metadata systems, data dictionaries, databases and applications.
  • Deep ability and knowledge of architecting and modeling in OLTP, Data Warehouse, OLAP, and ETL systems.
  • Ability and experience in metadata management, business semantics, process and data modeling.
  • Ability to work from an organizational perspective.
  • Ability to work independently and also as a contributing, collaborative team member.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Excellent listening skills and a commitment to communicate clearly, completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to organize time effectively, determine priorities, and move work forward.
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of processes and procedures, and recommend improvements.
  • Ability to identify barriers to progress and propose solutions.
  • Strong motivation and passion for learning and improving skills and knowledge. Ability to be effective in a growing organization that changes rapidly and often. Some programming experience a plus. Experience utilizing XML and XML Schemas in a SQL environment. Experience with SQL Reporting Services. Excel / VBA experience desired.
